Are you willing to be alone?

Ingrid Bacci says, “If you are afraid of being alone, you are dependent on others for your sense of self, and if you are dependent on others, you block your receptivity to inner guidance. Being willing to be alone involves being willing to be different, to have commitments and values that don’t blend with any crowd.”

“Man’s loneliness is but his fear of life.”

— Eugene O’Neill

“I celebrate myself, and sing myself.”

— Walt Whitman

  1. Thich Nhat Hanh talks about being alone in “The Heart of Understanding”.  He says that there is nothing wrong with being alone.  I’m trying to find his exact quote in here, but he tells how the best way to find ourselves and to find our inner peace is to be alone… I’ll find it and come back.

  2. Yes this was something I have been working on for a few years.  It is a great way to learn about yourself, see your spirit.  Inner peace comes from within, we have to be quiet to find it..I think being alone aids in this greatly.
